Irish comedian David O'Doherty shared a lovely video encouraging a 'Yes' vote this Friday

He promised that it was his first and only ever vlog.

DAVID O’DOHERTY is one of Ireland’s best comedic exports.

Over the years, he’s appeared on QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie to You? That’s not including his own TV show, ‘The Modest Adventures of David O’Doherty’.

David’s a very funny man. But last night, he abandoned his sense of humour and posted his very first (and very last) ever vlog.

It’s really just for people in Ireland, and it’s going to be very earnest, because this Friday we have an opportunity to make Ireland into a more kind and compassionate place for our sisters and friends who – for whatever reason – may find themselves in a crisis pregnancy.

A lot of people are going to vote ‘No’. They want the situation that we have at the moment, to stay the same. If you can find a place in your heart, even if you just personally disagree but can see how other people may be in a circumstance completely different to yours might have a different perspective… Then please, join me in voting ‘Yes’ to repeal the Eighth Amendment of the Irish Constitution.

Tara Flynn, singer Lisa Hannigan and Irish director John Butler were among those who applauded David’s statement on Twitter.
